Why is Blooming Desert Photography different?

We are different because we focus on maternity, newborn, and children’s first year. While most photographers will deliver images online and not offer any support in printing/creating wall art with your photos, Blooming Desert Photography will guide you every step of the way. We offer beautiful products that you can see, feel, and touch in person. You can view the different colors of albums and the different sizes of canvases, metal prints, and framed prints. There’s nothing like seeing things in person and being able to make the best choice while having real life examples in person. You won’t have to worry about what online company to order from and if you are selecting the right paper choices or size, we will help you!

Why should I pay for professional photos?

You could definitely take your own photos! But, there are many reasons to get them done professionally!
1. Less stress— Let me worry about the angles, poses, props, outfits, photo editing, and printing.
2. Better quality image files— Cell phones take great photos nowadays but DSLR cameras take higher quality images. My camera is like a mini computer and it’s image files are quite larger than those taken on a cell phone. This helps in editing images as well as how the images will show up online and printed.
3. Help with selecting images and with printing— I will take lots of photos during your session but I’ll go through and only select the best. Then you’ll choose the ones you love the most and I will edit them. Not only do you get your best images digitally, I’ll help you select the best way to print your photos.

Why are professional photos so expensive?

Getting your photos taken professionally is definitely an investment. How much you’d like to invest is up to you and there is a photographer for every budget range—you just have to find the photographer with the right fit for you and your family.

In most cases photographers charge the amount that works best for their business and will take into consideration:

  • Licensing fees (a real and legal business will have licensing fees)

  • Equipment costs—those cameras, lights, computers, SD cards, props, client wardrobes all cost money.

  • A livable wage—this is the biggest cost! For those of us that do this as a career this is how we live and feed our family so we have to make sure we price our services and products to pay ourselves a livable wage.

  • Hours spent—Just because your session is an hour long does not mean the photographer just clicks the camera for the hour long session and that’s it. There is A LOT of time spent behind the scenes editing and running a business! There’s also lot of time spent doing other business things like office work and marketing. You might think our camera makes those beautiful photos but it’s a lot of it is editing. Choosing and editing images can take hours as I make sure your skin, hair, and other small details are just right!

When is the best time to do a photography session?

  • Maternity is best done in the last trimester when belly is nice and big. 30-38 weeks is best but I usually try and get you in about 3-4 weeks before your due date just because you never know when baby will make their debut and you won’t want to miss out on getting pictures taken before baby comes.

  • Newborn is best done within two weeks of birth because newborns are sleepy and get into poses easier but they can be done even up to three months old.

  • Milestone sessions can be done at 3 months, 6 months, 9 months (anytime really) but the best milestone is done as a ‘sitter session’ when baby can sit all on their own or with a little bit of assistance.

  • Cake smash / First Birthday is best done on the day of little one’s birthday as a fun event OR if you need photos done and ready to share ON birthday then it’s best to do your session 3-4 weeks before birthday.

What type of products do you sell?

We offer digital images as well as folios (which are matted prints or board mounted prints), albums, canvas, metal prints, framed prints, as well as decorative pieces like triplexes, acrylic blocks, ornaments. Don’t worry if you don’t know what all these are because you’ll get to see them in person at your session.
